“I can’t change” – The big lie (part 1)

“That’s Just The Way I Am”

Have you ever said that? “That’s just the way I am”?  Or perhaps, “I can’t change now” or something like that?
Maybe you’ve never said the words but perhaps you thought it . . . or maybe it’s a belief or feeling somewhere in your subconscious.
On the other hand, maybe you believe it possible to change but think it would be too hard, uncomfortable or require too much sacrifice.

It’s these kinds of beliefs that stand in the way of the transformation you desire.  And trust me when I say ALL they are, is beliefs.

For many years in my life, I struggled with my weight.  The more years passed, the more difficult it seemed to be that I could lose weight.  In the meantime, I got older, felt more tired, less inspired to exercise and I felt that my eating was out of control.  As I reached my mid 50’s, I believed that I was doomed to be overweight.

Then I joined Weight Watchers, I started to look at life, food, eating, my body, my mind, differently.  I made a commitment to the program and the weight started coming off.  I stayed committed and I continued to see success.  I remember it was the holiday season.  I joined in the first week of November.  Over the holidays I went to about a dozen parties.  I ate all kinds of holiday food, including desserts and alcohol.  But between November and February, I also lost 30 pounds.  I wound up weighing less than I did as a fit young man my senior year in high school.

(It didn’t have to be Weight Watchers by the way, it could have been some other program.  It wasn’t about the program, but about how I chose to look at myself and my life.)

If there is something about yourself that you want to change, it is possible.  And even if it feels like it will be difficult, even that can be lessened.
Here’s how it works:

The first step is desire.
When you have a strong desire for change, that alone starts the process of change. Desire opens your mind to previously unthought possibilities. 
Desire sparks inspiration.
And now, your soul is awakened and ready for what comes next.
